Turbulent is an original oil painting depicting a vivid seascape that attempts to capture the untamed beauty of waves beneath a turbulent crimson sky. Merging tensions and tranquility waves and weather can mirror our own internal circumstances. It is shown in a white-lined, chrome-silver frame which bring out the frosted wave tops.

Choppy Tides (2025), is a continuation of my series of wave paintings. I created this oil painting with a series of brushes, capping the waves with a white impasto. I find myself fascinated with the way that the light bounces off of the top of the waves, as if playing leap frog between sets. Choppy was created using the same 4 colors used in Daybreak, though they feature completely different textures, different tones and movements; thus the scenes look entirely different. There is a little contradiction in serenity and chaos. between the calm sun resting on the horizon and the swirling clouds and choppy waters beneath. The deeper blues fighting to take over hint at the more restless, untamable power of the ocean, while the whites wave caps attempt to contain its movement beneath the sky. This piece, and ones like it, are another way in which I am able to explore emotion and dynamic feelings in a natural scene.

This (24”x36”) stunning oil painting beautifully honors the power and majesty of the ocean, capturing its constant movement with sweeping, expressive brushstrokes. The golden light spilling across the waves evokes a sense of peace and wonder, as if the sea itself is glowing beneath a radiant sky. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the ocean’s untamed spirit. Framed in a gold-lined wooden frame to capture it’s highlights.

Hanalei Bay is an original oil on canvas painting depicting the converted building you see upon entering Hanalei Town. Included in the piece are the rentable surf boards, beautiful clothes shops and a classic local chicken set infront of the mountains that border Kauai’s beautiful Na Pali Coast.

This original oil on canvas depicts a family of Laysan Albatross sitting on the coast of Lihue (Kauai). The painting uses heavy impasto to create texture and depth with intentional focus on bright saturated color. Laysan Albatross are incredible birds whose wingspans commonly exceed 6 feet. Their chics are a fluffy feathered grey. They are known as quite the romantic bird due to their complex mating dance and the fact that they mate for life; but beyond this they always return to the same spot when migrating back home. The piece is framed in a dramatic wood frame, lined in white to pick up the highlights of the painting.

This recent painting, Dancing 2025, was inspired by my previous work, The Waltz (2020). I included both pieces to show a progression of my work. I consider the styles to be different, but here I was much more intentional with the movement of the tertiary colors, the purpose of their presence in the background, and how to play and reflect that part of the work against the movement of the figures. Again to create this piece I filled in the background, and the rest of the composition was completed using palette knives. As in earlier pieces, this work includes a happy, scintillating yellow, but rather than being drowned out, it is revealed as the viewer moves closer to the figures. The colors are less muddled in some areas and thickly applied in others, adding to the emotion and movement of the piece. I enjoy making dynamic paintings like this and aim to evoke emotion through the harmonic movements and subtle accented colors.

Barrells is an experimental painting exploring the movement of water and the way light interacts with it. In works like Kaiholo (2023) and Swell (2025), I have brought elements of the circular, abstracted style from previous collections into natural scenes, and here I continue that approach. This wave depiction is intentionally stylized. It does not show the traditional, crashing energy of water, but rather emphasizes the drawing, almost floating quality of the waves and the light they carry. Through this piece, I aimed to capture the luminosity, and delicate motion of the ocean. I attempted to use the different hues of blue to portray less of a focus on perfect shading, but the light blankets of sunset caught up in the wave. There is an interplay between water and light in a way that feels both abstract and alive; and a little bit of impasto at the crest of the wave was a final touch to bring a little more dimension
(24”x30”) This original oil on canvas depicts the Kilauea Lighthouse on Kauai during a dramatic sunset. It is shown and installed with a beautiful lined, champagne frame. It is depicting the pockets of scenery you get at the top of your hike, or through the trees lining your path. Just a beautiful moment to capture.
Stupid Chickens (16”x20”) is an original oil painting made I made in a moment where I was entertained by the feral chickens roaming Hawaii. I attempted to portray them and their Hawaiian lifestyle in a fun and comedic way. It is framed in a complimentary metallic red lined frame.
Swell is an oil painting (18”x18”) which depicts a wave crashing in the sea. A wave is a burst of the ocean’s soul, rising and falling in rhythm with the heartbeat of the earth. It carries its graceful dances from other shores, the whispers of the wind, and the emotions of the sea. Both a way for fun Friday surfing, and a dangerously strong force on its own, the ocean is so beautiful, and so swell.

Through Ideation and brainstorming, I landed at the following figure as something I wanted to create. A sculpture of a person in a complex or dynamic pose can offer deep commentary on performance, body representation, and negative space. By capturing a moment of physical action, such as a dance or athletic gesture, the sculpture suggests a performance frozen in time, inviting viewers to consider the energy, effort, and narrative beyond the pose. The body’s contortions or tension can also highlight themes of physical strain, vulnerability, or strength, reflecting the unseen challenges of performing.

The intention of this sculpture was to explore the human body through the lens of yoga, focusing on the linear forms created by the body's bones and joints. The piece features a seated figure in a meditative pose, with the arms and legs forming triangular shapes that reflect yogic philosophies of balance and serenity. Crafted from wood and emphasizing subtle geometric lines, the sculpture honors the connection between body, movement, and spiritual expression, drawing inspiration from both Buddhist and yogic ideals.
